RW Carter Ashton, REG: 0-0-0, -1, 2 PIM (slashing)
Season totals: 10 GP, 3-2-5, -7, 21 PIM
Ashton was the third and final shooter for the Pats in the shootout, but he hit the post and couldn’t extend the tie-breaker. Ashton is tied for sixth on the club in scoring, behind two defensemen. His minus-7 rating is tied for third worst on the team. The Regina newspaper reported this week it’s not a matter of “if,†but “when†and “where†Ashton gets traded within the WHL, but Regina needs for him to play to his 1st round capabilities so they can maximize the return for their rebuilding effort. Regina is tied for the fewest points in the league with Kelowna at 2-7-1-1.

Kootenay Ice 2 @ Regina Pats 0
RW Carter Ashton, REG: 0-0-0, -1, 0 PIM
Season Totals: 7 GP, 2-1-3, -3, 21 PIM
Regina is a league-worst 1-6-1-0 so far this year, and for a team with Jordan Weal and Ashton, that shouldn’t be happening. They managed only 14 shots on goal – at home – on Tuesday. Then again, this was a team that had Jordan Eberle last year and greatly faltered. After scoring 30 two years ago, Ashton fell to 24 goals last year, and with only 2 after 7 games, he can’t be happy with his (or the team’s) production so far, especially considering he had such a good Lightning camp and exhibition season.
O'Donnell has a big night ... Connolly, Ashton score ... Schemitsch a PPGer ... Zador struggles.

C Brendan O’Donnell, PEN: 2-0-2, 0 PIM, *First Star*

Season Totals: 4 GP, 0-0-0, +1, 16 PIM
Beukeboom is still looking for his first point of the season. The Soo captain has two fights, however. Beukeboom jumped Hooey after Hooey laid an open ice check on a Soo player. As a result of Beukeboom's actions, the Soo unsuccessfully tried to kill off a seven-minute power play. The Greyhounds were outshot 40-25, including 18-5 in the second period.

C Richard Panik, BEL: 0-2-2, E, 0 PIM

RW Carter Ashton, REG: 0-0-0, E, 22 PIM (instigator, fighting x2 vs. Petrovic, Grayson, game misc.)
Season Totals: 5 GP, 1-1-2, E, 31 PIM
Ashton was kicked out of the game late in the second period after his second fight. Red Deer scored three times in the third period, and once in overtime to win. Against Grayson, Ashton came to the defense of a teammate who had been checked from behind. The Pats are now 1-4-1 on the year.
