Fargo Force 2 @ Team USA 1

Season totals: 41 GP, 18-29-47, +25, 24 PIM
Mullin was scoreless for the second straight game, but the Force got the win against the USA development team. At 60 points, Fargo is tied for third in the Western Conference with Sioux Falls, who has a game in hand on Fargo. The Force is one point out of second and five points out of first, but the teams in front of them, Omaha and Dubuque, have games in hand on Fargo. The Force have 11 games left in the season.

Landry did not participate in the shootout, which was won 3-2 by the Foreurs. The Juniors have a four point lead on Drummondville for first in the TELUS West Division with five games to go.

Panik remains out with a sprained ankle. He is expected to return this week. Guelph has clinched a playoff spot and is tied with London for seventh. The key will be to avoid top-seeded Owen Sound or Kitchener in the first round. The Storm has five games left.

Ashton is now within one goal of his career high for a season, set two years ago with Lethbridge in 70 games. He has already set career highs for assists and points. Sunday night Ashton scored once in the first period and again on the power play late in the third to give the Ams a big win in one of the WHL’s toughest barns. TC is clinched a playoff spot and currently sit in fourth in the West, comfortably ahead of Vancouver in fifth and well behind Spokane in third. TC has eight games left.

Mullin was on a hot streak with five points in his last two games before getting held off the scoresheet vs. Youngstown. He led the team with six shots on goal Friday.

Connolly scored his 40th goal of the season, but it wasn’t enough as the Chiefs held on for a 5-4 win in Prince George. Connolly, who has three goals in his last two games, is tied for fifth in the league in goals despite playing 10-11 fewer games than those above him. Spokane’s Tyler Johnson (undrafted) leads with 47. Johnson had a goal Friday against the Cougars.
Kootenay Ice 2 @ Saskatoon Blades 9

Season totals: 65 GP, 3-15-18, +24, 131 PIM
Zahn is within one point of his career high of 19 in a season, set in 2007-2008. Saskatoon has scored 30 goals in their past four games; 17 in their last two. Defenseman Stefan Elliott (Avalanche) scored his 29th and 30th goals of the season for the Blades.

O’Donnell missed games 2-4 after being First Star in Game 1. He is considered day-to-day with an “upper body injury.†He’ll get some time to rest now that the Vees have swept Quesnel.

The Americans have now lost six of their last seven games. They were down 3-0 after 14 minutes in this one. Ashton scored with nine seconds left in the first to get the Ams within two goals, but Portland scored the game’s next three goals to take a 6-1 lead. TC regrouped and cut the ‘Hawks lead to 6-5 with three minutes left in the third, but they couldn’t complete the comeback. Islanders first rounder Nino Neiderreiter had two goals and four points for Portland.

Tommy Tremblay (undrafted) and Hubert Labrie (undrafted) both had a pair of goals for the Olympiques. Labrie only had one goal for the season coming into the game.

Mullin (pictured) now has five points in his last two games. His unassisted, shorthanded goal early in the third period was the first of four straight goals for the Force in the period. They’d add another after Lincoln scored to make it 5-3. Mullin is ninth in the league in scoring and third in plus/minus.

The Chiefs have TC’s number. Saturday night Spokane beat their division rivals for the fourth time in the last two weeks. As a result, the Ams have now fallen six points behind Spokane. For the season, Spokane has won six of the 10 games played between the two teams. They’ll meet two more times before the season ends.

Connolly broke a season-long four game scoreless streak with a goal and an assist Saturday, and tied his career high for points in a season in the process. The Prince George captain had 60 points as a rookie two seasons ago in 65 games. This was a strong bounce-back game for the Cougars after losing 8-0 Friday to Spokane and twice to the Tips last weekend at home. Prince George had been on a five game losing streak.
