Bolt Prospects Prospect of the Month: October
No surprises here...
C Blair Jones, Springfield (AHL)
No prospect has improved his stock more in the Lightning organization over the past couple of months than Blair Jones, who is in his rookie professional season out of Moose Jaw in the WHL. The 2005 4th round pick was signed late this summer after a brief contractual stalemate with the Lightning organization and has played well at every step along the way early this season to rise on the depth chart. Now, at just 20 years old, Jones is centering the Springfield Falcons' top line between veterans Norm Milley and Eric Healey and cashing is in at every opportunity. Jones is in the top-20 in the AHL in scoring with 11 points in 8 games, good for third in the league in scoring amongst rookies. It isn't just Jones' playmaking abilities that are impressing the Lightning organization though. Throughout training camp and the preseason and on into the AHL, Jones shows a surprisingly mature game defensively and along the wall. Now a legitimate contender in the early season for AHL Rookie of the Year, look for Jones to find his way into a Lightning jersey within the next year. Jones was also the Bolt Prospects Prospect of the Week award recipient for the week of 10/23-10/29.
